Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac, Station Eleven, Superman & Lois) is scoring the upcoming comedy drama My Dear Friend Zoe. The film is directed by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes and stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Ed Harris, Natalie Morales, Morgan Freeman, Gloria Reuben and Utkarsh Ambudkar. The movie revolves around a U.S. Army Afghanistan veteran who is at odds with her family thanks to the presence of her dead best friend from the Army. Romer also contributed an original song to the project with Kaia Kater. Hausmann-Stokes also co-wrote the screenplay with AJ Bermudez. He is also producing the Legion M production with Paul Scanlan, Terri Lubaroff, Ray Maiello, Mike Field, Richard Silverman (We Are Your Friends) and Robert Paschall Jr. (The Old Way). My Dear Friend Zoe will premiere this March at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival.
Romer’s other recent feature projects include Jake Johnson’s Self Reliance, which will debut this Friday on Hulu following a premiere at last year’s SXSW Film Festival, as well as Nikolaj Arcel’s The Promised Land, which will be released in U.S. theaters on February 2 by Magnolia Pictures..
