Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Station Eleven, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation) & Mike Tuccillo (Ramy, Love Life, Homeroom) have co-scored the upcoming drama Woman of the Hour. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actress Anna Kendrick and stars Kendrick herself, Tony Hale, Daniel Zovatto and Nicolette Robinson. The movie tells the stranger-than-fiction true story of struggling actress Cheryl Bradshaw who was a bachelorette on the hit 70s TV matchmaking show The Dating Game and chose Rodney Alcala who turned out to be a psychopathic serial killer.. Ian MacAllister McDonald wrote the screenplay. Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee (It, The Lego Movie) & Miri Yoon (Don’t Worry Darling, The Mother) and BoulderLight Pictures’ J.D. Lifshitz & Raphael Margules (Barbarian, Becky) are producing the project. Woman of the Hour will premiere later this week at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
Romer’s other recent projects also include Nikolaj Arcel’s The Promised Land, which just premiered at the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals.
