Republic Records has released the first two songs from the soundtrack for the new HBO original series The Idol. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Popular performed by The Weeknd (who also co-created and stars in the show) feat. Playboi Carti & Madonna, as well as Double Fantasy (released this past April) by The Weeknd feat. Future. Also listen to both tracks below. A first full soundtrack album is scheduled to be released on June 30 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Manish Raval & Tom Wolfe serve as the project’s music supervisors. The Idol is created by Sam Levinson (who also directed all episodes), Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye & Reza Fahim and also stars Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan. The drama will premiere this Sunday, June 4 on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.
