Candid Records has announced a soundtrack album for the sports drama Sweetwater. The album features the new songs Taking Me Higher by Keb’ Mo’ (already available to stream/download now and embedded below), Right Place Right Time by Larkin Poe, a new version of Someone to Watch Over Me by Dianne Reeves & Terri Lyne Carrington & as well as tracks by Gary Clark Jr., Robert Randolf, Rick Braun, Liyah Bey, Paul Hipp & others. Also included are the classics The Man I Love and Sweet Georgia Brown performed by Emmaline as Jeannie Staples in the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sweetwater is written and directed by Martin Guigui and also stars Everett Osborne, Kevin Pollak, Jeremy Piven, Cary Elwes, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Ri’chard. The 1950s-set movie tells the true story of Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first African American to land an NBA contract. The drama will open in theaters nationwide on April 14.
