The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 24, CineConcerts will present Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in Concert with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performing Alexandre Desplat’s score live-to-picture (click here for more details). John Williams will return to the Bowl on July 7, 8 & 9 for the concert Maestro of the Movies. The composer himself and his colleague Gustavo Dudamel will share the podium for three nights of movie music performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, including selections with film clips (visit the Bowl’s website for more information). On August 3, Caleb Young will conduct the LA Philharmonic for a live concert presentation of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (click here for more details). The following two nights, August 4 & 5, the Bowl will host the world premiere of Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Concert with Thomas Wilkins conducting the LA Philharmonic for a performance of the most iconic song and film moments of the studio’s legacy (including such titles as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, The Little Mermaid & Encanto) live in concert (click here for more information). On August 24, Joe Hisaishi will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in selections of his own music, including his scores for Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, as well as Debussy’s La mer (visit the Bowl’s website for more details). On September 1 & 2, David Newman will return to the Bowl to conduct two live-to-picture concerts of John Williams’s score for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (click here for more information).
