Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Station Eleven, Beasts of No Nation, Atypical) is scoring the upcoming comedy Self Reliance. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Jake Johnson who also stars alongside Anna Kendrick, Andy Samberg, Natalie Morales, Christopher Lloyd, GaTa, Wayne Brady, Emily Hampshire, Boban Marjanović and Mary Holland. The movie follows a man who is offered a million dollars to play a game in which hunters try to kill him. Johnson also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with Ali Bell (Draft Day, Father Figures) and Joe Hardesty (Dead to Me, Ride the Eagle). Self Reliance will premiere in March at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
Romer also continues to score the CW’s Superman & Lois, which will return for its third season on March 14, as well as ABC’s The Good Doctor, which will return for the second part of its sixth season on January 23.
