Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Mulan, The Last Duel, Kingdom of Heaven) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming shark thriller Meg 2: The Trench. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley (High-Rise, Free Fire, Rebecca) and stars Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. No plot details have been revealed yet for the sequel to Jon Turtletaub’s original 2018 The Meg movie. Jon & Erich Hoeber (RED, Battleship) and Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) wrote the screenplay. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Deepwater Horizon) return as the producers of the Gravity Pictures and Di Bonaventura Pictures production. Gregson-Williams’ score for 2018’s The Meg has been released by WaterTower Music. Meg 2: The Trench is set to be released in theaters nationwide on August 4, 2023 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Gregson-Williams’ other upcoming feature projects include Nimrod Antal’s Retribution, which has recently been picked up by Lionsgate for a release in 2023.
