Deadline is reporting that novelist Richard Mason (The Drowning People, The Lighted Rooms) and Christopher Read will compose the original music for the Hulu musical drama pilot History of a Pleasure Seeker. The show written by Mason based on his 2012 book of the same name is set in early 20th Century Amsterdam and tells the story of a charismatic young man’s explosive adventures through all the temptations of the Belle Époque. Julie Anne Robinson (Bridgerton, One for the Money, The Catch) will direct the pilot episode. Mason, Read and are also executive producing the ABC Signature and Fremantle production with Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) and Hat Trick Productions’ Jimmy Mulville (Flack, Room 101). No casting announcements have been made yet for History of a Pleasure Seeker.
