The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 30, CineConcerts will present Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in Concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing Alexandre Desplat’s score live-to-picture (click here for more details). On August 5 & 6, David Newman will conduct the LA Philharmonic for two live-to-picture concerts of Alan Silvestri’s score for Back to the Future (click here for more information). On July 24, Craig Robinson will host Black Movie Soundtrack IV with Orchestra, the fourth installation of the concert series curated by Reginald Hudlin and Marcus Miller (visit the Bowl’s website for more details). John Williams will also return to the Bowl on September 2, 3 & 4 for the concert Maestro of the Movies – Celebrating John Williams at 90. The composer himself, as well as David Newman will conduct some of Williams’ greatest hits performed by the LA Philharmonic. Other events at the venue include The Music of Leonard Bernstein on July 12 & 14 with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the LA Philharmonic for two night devoted to the West Side Story composer, featuring video clips from many of the films his scores inspired (click here for more details). A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) will perform at the Bowl on July 24 (click here for more details).
