Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla) has composed the original music for the upcoming French drama Lui. The film is written and directed by Guillaume Canet (Tell No One, Little White Lies) and stars Canet himself, alongside Mathieu Kassovitz, Laetitia Casta, Virginie Efira and Nathalie Baye. The movie centers on a composer at a crossroads who isolates himself at a house in Brittany, where he receives visits from many of the important people in his life, including his wife, his parents, his best friend and his mistress. Alain Attal (My King, Populaire) is producing the project for Trésor Films. Lui is currently scheduled to be released in France on October 27, 2021.
Desplat’s other upcoming projects include Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch (to be released theatrically on October 22) , Guillmero del Toro’s Nightmare Alley (coming out in theaters on December 3) & Pinocchio (expected to debut in 2022) and (set to come out in French theaters on October 13). The composer is also attached to compose the music for Rebecca Miller’s She Came to Me.
