Simon Boswell (Shallow Grave, Lord of Illusions, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The War Zone) is composing the original music for the upcoming British comedy Blithe Spirit. The film is directed by Edward Hall and stars Dan Stevens, Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, Judi Dench, Emilia Fox, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Adil Ray, Michelle Dotrice and Aimee-Ffion Edwards. The movie is based on the classic play of the same title by Noël Coward and revolves around a crime author who invites an eccentric mystic to his home in hopes of curing a terrible case of writer’s block he encounters as he tries to finish his first script. Piers Ashworth (St. Trinian’s) wrote the screenplay with Meg Leonard & Nick Moorcroft (Finding Your Feet, Fisherman’s Friends) who are also producing the project with Hilary Bevan Jones (Pirate Radio, Deep State), Peter Snell (The Wicker Man), James Spring (Come Away) and Tuni Pinnolis. Blithe Spirit will be released theatrically in the UK on May 1, 2020.
