Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, The Punisher, Dawn of the Dead) is reuniting with director David Leitch on the upcoming action movie Hobbs & Shaw. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham who reprise their roles as sworn enemies Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw from the Fast & Furious franchise. They are joined by Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren. The movie follows the titular characters as they have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves. Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious series, Wanted) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Johnson, Statham and Hiram Garcia (Rampage, Skyscraper). Bates has previously collaborated with Leitch on the original John Wick movie, as well as Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. The movie will be released in theaters nationwide on August 2, 2019 by Universal Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.
Bates has also recently co-scored the Leith-produced John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend. He is also expected to return as the composer for the second season of USA’s The Purge.
Was really hoping they’d keep Brian Tyler on.
that’s what everyone was thinking not the case
I hoped that too. Tyler Bates is an “okay” choice, but it’s Brian Tylers Franchise and his score does more fit than Bates…
Was B. Tyler even asked?
As much as I am a fan of Tyler a bit more than Brian Tyler, I was hoping David would have done what was right which was let Brian keep doing the series, his scores are magnificent and I just KNOW Tyler will not be able to deliver the score needed, it will take a total different direction. Since David started working with Tyler he said we would only work with him in the future, leaving Brian behind these series which he deserved to keep scoring. Not cool David, not cool Tyler, you should have refused.
refused to do the score are your serious???? what a dumbass
