Joseph Trapanese (Straight Outta Compton, Oblivion, The Greatest Showman, The Raid, Allegiant, Robin Hood) is scoring the upcoming action comedy Stuber. The film is directed by Michael Dowse (Goon, What If) and stars Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista, Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan. The movie follows a mild-mannered Uber driver who picks up a grizzled cop on the trail of a brutal killer and he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal. Tripper Clancy wrote the screenplay. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are producing the project. Stuber will premiere next week in a work-in-progress version at the SXSW Film Festival and is scheduled to be released on July 12, 2019 by 20th Century Fox.
Trapanese has also recently scored Joe Penna’s Arctic, which is currently playing in select theaters and has also composed the music for the last season of Epix’s Berlin Station, which just finished its third season run last month on Epix.
