Mel Elias is scoring the upcoming historical drama Robert the Bruce. The film is directed by Richard Gray (Sugar Mountain, The Lookalike) and stars Angus Macfadyen who is reprising his role from Mel Gibson’s Academy Award-winning 1995 feature Braveheart (scored by James Horner). He is joined by Jared Harris, Anna Hutchison, Patrick Fugit, Zach McGowan, Gabriel Bateman, Talitha Eliana-Bateman, Shane Coffey, Emma Kenney and Kevin McNally. The movie about the nobleman-turned-outlaw hero who was was crowned king of Scots in the 14th century continues the story where Braveheart left off. Robert the Bruce is expected to be released later this year.
Also coming up for the composer is the indie drama All The Little Things We Kill directed by Adam Neutzsky-Wulff and starring Elizabeth Marvel, Danielle Brooks, Guillermo Diaz, Casey Cott and RJ Mitte. The movie follows a professor at a local community college who takes her class hostage in an effort to force a Senator to pass a Gun Control Bill that he had promised to enact after a school shooting left her daughter dead. Frankie KL wrote the screenplay and is producing the film with Neutzsky-Wulff and Sara Victoria Pedersen. A premiere later this year is expected. Elias has also recently scored the indie drama Imaginary Order written and directed by Debra Eisenstadt and starring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Christine Woods, Max Burkholder, Steve Little, Catherine Curtin and Kate Alberts. The movie premiered last month at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. No word yet on a distribution deal. In addition ,Elias has also composed the music for the horror thriller The Clearing written and directed by David Matalon and starring Liam McIntyre, Sydelle Noel, Steven Swadling and Aundrea Smith. The movie is also expected to premiere this year.
