George Fenton has been hired to score the upcoming revenge thriller Hard Powder. The film is directed by Hans Petter Moland (Aberdeen) and stars Liam Neeson, Laura Dern, Emmy Rossum, William Forsythe, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Domenick Lombardozzi and Tom Bateman. The movie is based on Moland’s 2014 feature In Order of Disappearance and follows a snowplow driver and pillar of his Colorado community whose life is up-ended by his son’s killing at the hands of a powerful local drug lord. Frank Baldwin wrote the screenplay. Michael Shamberg (Erin Brokovich, Get Shorty) is producing the StudioCanal production. Hard Powder is expected to be released in the U.S. in 2019 by Lionsgate.
Fenton’s recent projects also include the drama Woman Walks Ahead starring Jessica Chastain. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on June 29 by A24.
As much as I am happy to know Fenton still gets scoring gigs, this genre never really calls for the kind of music he excels at.
