Jed Kurzel is composing the score for the upcoming WWII horror thriller Overlord. The film, which is rumored to be the next installment in the Cloverfield series, is directed by Julius Avery and stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Jacob Anderson, Pilou Asbæk, Iain De Caestecker, John Magaro and Bokeem Woodbine. The movie is set in 1944 on the eve of D-Day and centers on a group of American paratroopers, who are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, Breach) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Vacancy) have written the screenplay. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek) and Lindsey Weber (10 Cloverfield Lane, Star Trek: Beyond) are producing the Bad Robot production. Kurzel has previously scored Avery’s first feature, Son of a Gun. Overlord is set to be released on October 27, 2018 by Paramount Pictures.
Kurzel whose other previous scoring credits include Alien: Covenant, The Babadook and Assassin’s Creed also has the drama Mustang starring Matthias Schoenaerts & Jason Mitchell, as well as Jennifer Kent’s thriller The Nightingale coming up.
