Gingger Shankar is reteaming with director Maryam Keshavarz to score the upcoming drama Vulture Club. The film starring Susan Sarandon, Edie Falco, Matt Bomer, Lola Kirke, Adepero Oduye and Sheila Vand revolves around a veteran emergency room nurse who takes drastic measures to free her adult son, a war correspondent who’s been captured by a terrorist group. Keshavarz also co-wrote the screenplay with Jonathan Mastro. Anna Gerb, Neal Dodson and J.C. Chandor (All Is Lost, Margin Call, A Most Violent Year) are producing the project for CounterNarrative. Shankar has previously collaborated with the director on 2011’s Circumstance. Vulture Club is set to be released in theaters later this year before premiering exclusively on YouTube Red.
Shankar also recently composed the music for the documentary Akicita: The Battle of Standing Rock directed by Cody Lucich. The movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a distribution deal.
