This coming weekend, The Echo Society will be presenting its first three-day festival, VI: FAMILY. The event will feature original works by 21 Los Angeles-based composers and special guests exploring the theme of “Family.” Among the participating artists are film/TV composers Rob Simonsen (500 Days of Summer, Foxcatcher), Joseph Trapanese (Straight Outta Compton, Oblivion), ESKMO (Billions, 13 Reasons Why), Nathan Johnson (Looper, Brick), Jeremy Zuckerman (Scream: The TV Series, Legend of Kora), Deru (Benjamin Wynn) (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Judson Crane, Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation), Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Aloha), Heather McIntosh (Compliance, Z for Zachariah) and Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear (Blue Valentine). The festival will take place on October 21, 22 & 23 at at a legendary residence from the Golden Age of Hollywood in Silver Lake. Every evening, 7 different composers will present or perform original works simultaneously in 7 rooms of the house for (mostly) unamplified instruments of their choosing.
