The Roots have recorded the original song It Ain’t Fair for Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming dramatic thriller Detroit. The hip hop group collaborated with singer/songwriter Bilal on the track, which will be featured in the movie and on the official soundtrack album, which will be released by Motown Records later this month. Detroit stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie. The movie is set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating riots that took place over five haunting summer days in 1967.
