Rhino Records will release a soundtrack album for Jim Jarmusch’s documentary Gimme Danger. The album features fourteen songs by The Stooges that focus on the group’s first three studio albums – The Stooges, Fun House, and Iggy and The Stooges’ Raw Power — and feature band members Iggy Pop, Ron and Scott Asheton, Dave Alexander and James Williamson. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 13, 2017 and physically on February 24, 2017. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. The label will also release a slightly truncated vinyl version on April 7 (click here to pre-order). Gimme Danger directed by Jarmusch recounts the hard-rocking history of Iggy Pop and The Stooges, who burst out of Michigan in the late ’60s with a savage and endlessly influential fusion of rock, blues, R&B, and free jazz. The documentary premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and was released in select theaters this past October by Magnolia Pictures and Amazon Studios.
