Joseph Trapanese is reteaming with director Joseph Kosinski on the upcoming action drama Granite Mountain. The film’s cast includes Miles Teller, Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges, Ben Hardy, Jennifer Connelly, Taylor Kitsch, Andie MacDowell, Natalie Hall, James Badge Dale and Scott Haze. The movie tells the true story of the elite crew of men who battled a wildfire in Prescott, Arizona in June 2013 that claimed the lives of 19 of their members. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers series, Salt, Deepwater Horizon) is producing the project with Erik Howsam, Jeremy Steckler (Army of One), Dawn Ostroff, Mike Menchel (One Chance), Molly Smith (Demolition), Trent Luckinbill & Thad Luckinbill (Sicario). Trapanese has previously collaborated on Kosinski’s first two features, Oblivion (which he co-scored with Anthony Gonzalez with M83) and Tron: Legacy (on which he worked together with Daft Punk). Granite Mountain is set to be released on September 22, 2017 by Lionsgate.
Trapanese is also currently scoring the second season of ABC’s Quantico and will compose the music for the first full season of Amazon’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson. The composer’s upcoming projects also include the thriller Shimmer Lake starring Benjamin Walker.
So no artists like Daft Punk or M83 working with Trapanese this time? That’s a shame because the previous soundtracks really had something special.
Really hope Kosinski keeps his visual style even for this “real world” story.
