Lorne Balfe has signed on to compose the music for the upcoming biographical drama Churchill. The film is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man, Burning Man) and stars Brian Cox, Miranda Richardson, John Slattery, James Purefoy and Ella Purnell. The movie is set across the five days before D-Day in 1944 and charts the tension between the British PM and the Allied leaders, including Eisenhower and Montgomery, who are poised to launch the invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe. British historian and author Alex von Tunzelmann has written the screenplay. Nick Taussig and Paul Van Carter are producing the project for Salon Pictures, alongside Piers Tempest (Killing Bono, Grabbers) & Jo Bamford for Tempo Productions and Claudia Bluemhuber for Silver Reel. Churchill is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
As previously reported, Balfe also has the animated feature The Lego Batman Movie coming up.
