Tyler Bates has been tapped to score the upcoming spy thriller The Coldest City. The film is directed by David Leitch and stars Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman and Sofia Boutella. The movie based on Antony Johnston’s graphic novel of the same title is set in Berlin during the Cold War era and follows a female spy who has to find a list of double agents who were being smuggled into the West. Kurt Johnstad (300, Act of Valor) has written the screenplay. Leitch and Theron are also producing the project with A.J. Dix (The Butterfly Effect), Beth Kono (Dark Places, Eric Gitter (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Kelly McCormick and Peter Schwerin. Bates has previously scored the Leith-co-directed feature John Wick. The Coldest City is currently in post-prodcution and will be distributed in the U.S. by Focus Features.
