Legacy Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Janis: Little Girl Blue. The album features the songs from the movie by the film’s subject matter Janis Joplin and the band Big Brother and the Holding Company, which featured as their lead singer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 12, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Janis: Little Girl Blue is directed by Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil, West of Memphis) and chronicles the life of one of the most revered and iconic rock & roll singers of all time, a tragic and misunderstood figure who thrilled millions of listeners and blazed new creative trails before her death in 1970 at age 27.
The documentary premiered at last year’s Venice and Toronto Film Festival and was released in theaters in November by FilmRise and will air later this year on PBS as part of the American Masters series. Visit the official movie website for more information.
