The Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 52nd Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. For the past couple of years, scoring mixers have been recognized alongside production, re-recording, ADR and foley mixers. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Thomas Vicari for Bridge of Spies (feat. music by Thomas Newman), Fabio Venturi for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight (music by Ennio Morricone), Conrad Hensel for Alejandro G. Inarritu’s The Revenant (scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto) and Shawn Murphy for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens (music by John Williams). Mad Max: Fury Road was also nominated, but no scoring mixer was included among the nominees.In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, the nominated scoring mixers are Brad Haehnel for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur (scored by Mychael & Jeff Danna) and Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania (music by Mark Mothersbaugh), Joel Iwataki for Pixar’s Inside Out (scored by Michael Giacchino), Shawn Murphy for Illumination Entertainment’s Minions (music by Heitor Pereira) and Casey Stone for The Peanuts Movie (scored by Christophe Beck).
