Alex Somers has composed the music for the upcoming indie drama Captain Fantastic. The film is written and directed by Matt Ross (28 Hotel Rooms) and stars Viggo Mortensen, Frank Langella, George MacKay, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn and Ann Dowd. The movie follows a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education who is forced to leave the forests of the Pacific Northwest and to re-enter society. Lynette Howell Taylor (Big Eyes, Half Nelson) and Jamie Patricof (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines) are producing the project with Shivani Rawat & Monica Levinson (Trumbo, Bruno). Somers is best known for his collaborations with Sigur Rós front man Jónsi. They have co-scored Cameron Crowe’s Aloha, All the Wilderness, as well as the first season of WGN America’s Manhattan. Captain Fantastic will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.
