The Newton Brothers have been hired to score the upcoming indie drama Wolf Who Cried Boy. The film is written and directed by Luke Jaden & Cort Johns and stars Barkhad Abdi, Torrey Wigfield, Dwight Henry and Peter Carey. The movie centers on a young man who gets swept into the seedy underbelly of the scrapping industry. Jaden and Johns are also producing the project with Frank Capra III, Phil Wurtzel, Anthony Garth, Michael Zervos and Andy Henry. Wolf Who Cried Boy is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
The composer duo also has the thriller Before I Wake (co-scored with Danny Elfman), which is set to be released on September 25, coming up. They also composed the music for the drama The Runner starring Nicolas Cage, which will be released on August 7 by Alchemy. Their other upcoming projects also includes the indie comedy Drive, She Said. The film is written and directed by Joe Syracuse & Lisa Addario (writers of Surf’s Up & Parental Guidance) and stars Jason Biggs, Ashley Tisdale, Janet Montgomery, Bria Murphy, Jenny Mollen, Adrian Voo and Steven Weber. The movie follows an insecure expectant father who, unable to find work in his field, unwittingly accepts a job chauffeuring prostitutes around Los Angeles. Diego Del Rio Toca, Jorge Garcia, Shana Eddy-Grouf and Mary Pat Bentel (Goodbye World, Animals) are producing the project, which is expected to premiere later this year.
