Nicholas Britell has composed the music for the upcoming drama A Tale of Love and Darkness. The film is written and directed by Natalie Portman who also stars in the film alongside Gilad Kahana and Amir Tessler. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Amos Oz and tells the story of Oz’s youth at the end of the British Mandate for Palestine and the early years of the State of Israel. Ram Bergman (Looper, Don Jon, Brick) and David Mandil (Footnote, Beaufort) are producing the project with Portman. Britell has previously scored the Natalie Portman segment of the anthology New York, I Love You. He is also known for writing the violin performances and spiritual songs for Steve McQueen’s Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave. A Tale of Love and Darkness is set to premiere later this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
