Christopher Lennertz revealed in a recent interview with Skewed n’ Reviewed that he is set to score the upcoming comedy Michelle Darnell. The film is directed by Ben Falcone (Tammy) and stars Melissa McCarthy, Peter Dinklage, Kristen Bell, Kathy Bates and Timothy Simons. The movie follows a titan of industry, who is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading and later emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart. McCarthy and Falcone have also written the screenplay with Steve Mallory. The film will be produced by McCarthy and Falcone through their On the Day production company, alongside Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy & Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights, The Other Guys) for Gary Sanchez Productions. Lennertz has previously scored the McCarthy-starring 2013 feature Identity Thief. Michelle Darnell is set to be released on April 8, 2016 by Universal Pictures.
The composer is also reuniting with director Tim Story on the action comedy sequel Ride Along 2. The film stars Kevin Hart, Ice Cube and Tika Sumptor who reprise their roles from the original movie. They are joined by Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, Ken Jeong and Glen Powell. Phil Hay and Matt Manfred (Clash of the Titans, R.I.P.D.) also return as the screenwriters. Cube is also producing the project with Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner. Lennertz has previously scored last year’s first part in the series and also collaborated with Story on the Think Like a Man movies. Ride Along 2 will be released on January 15, 2016 by Universal Pictures.
Lennertz also continues to score The CW’s Supernatural, which has recently been renewed for an 11th season. The composer’s other recent projects include ABC’s Agent Carter and Galavant and the features Horrible Bosses 2 and The Wedding Ringer.
