Richard Sherman will be honored with the “Shining Star” award at Education Through Music-Los Angeles’ (ETM-LA) 9th Annual Benefit Gala this Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The award is given out annually for those whose contributions through music has changed lives. The evening will feature students from Education Through Music-LA and Burbank’s Roosevelt Elementary School performing an arrangement of Sherman’s music from Mary Poppins, as well as a sing-a-long with the songwriter on the piano. Also appearing at the event as special presenters and performers featured are actor Josh Gad (Frozen, The Wedding Ringer), Grammy Award-winning R&B/pop group All-4-One, Evelyn Halus, and actress Karen Dotrice (Mary Poppins). Proceeds from the event will benefit ETM-LA, a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide music education in underserved schools as part of the core curriculum.
