Saunder Jurriaans and Danny Bensi have been tapped to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy drama The Driftless Area. The film is directed by Zachary Sluser and stars Zooey Deschanel, Anton Yelchin, John Hawkes, Aubrey Plaza, Frank Langella, Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat. The movie is based on a novel by Tom Drury and centers on the relationship between a bartender who returns to his hometown after the death of his parents and a mysterious woman. Sluser and Drury have co-written the screenplay. Keith Kjarval (Rudderless, Trust Me) is producing the project for Unified Pictures, alongside Aaron L. Gilbert (A Single Shot, Welcome to Me) for Bron Studios. The Driftless Area is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2015.
Bensi and Jurriaans also have the indie drama Jack of the Red Hearts coming up. The film is directed by Janet Grillo (Fly Away) and stars Famke Janssen and AnnaSophia Robb. The movie follows a teenage con artist who tricks a desperate mother into hiring her as a live-in companion for her autistic daughter. Jennifer Deaton has written the screenplay. Stefan Nowicki & Joey Carey (Obvious Child), Morgan White and Lucy Mukerjee-Brown are producing the Sundial Pictures production. Jack of the Red Hearts is also expected to premiere in 2015.
The composer duo whose previous credits include Martha Marcy May Marlene, Enemy, The One I Love and Magic Magic also has Rodrigo Garcia’s Last Days in the Desert starring Ewan McGregor & Tye Sheridan, as well as the comedy Nasty Baby starring Kristen Wiig and the drama Franny starring Richard Gere, Dakota Fanning & Theo James coming up. Jurriaans & Bensi also scored the romantic drama 5 to 7 starring Anton Yelchin, Glenn Close & Frank Langella, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and has been picked up by IFC Films for a domestic release in 2015.
