John Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming indie coming-of-age dramedy A Light Beneath Their Feet. The film is directed by Valerie Weiss and stars  Taryn Manning, Madison Davenport, Kurt Fuller, Maddie Hasson and Kali Hawk. The movie follows a high school senior who must choose between the college of her dreams and taking care of her mother living with bipolar disorder. Moira McMahon Leeper wrote the screenplay. Rob Johnson is producing the project and Jeffrey Loeb is executive producing. Swihart has previously collaborated with Weiss on the 2011 comedy Losing Control. A Light Beneath Their Feet is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2015.
Swihart also continues to score ABC Family’s hit drama Switched at Birth and is also composing the music for the new ABC comedy Cristela and Fox dramedy Red Band Society. The composer also composed the score for the upcoming comedy Staten Island Summer. The film is directed by Rhys Thomas (Saturday Night Live) and stars Graham Phillips, Zack Pearlman, Ashley Greene, Kate Walsh, Jim Gaffigan and Gina Gershon. The movie follows follows two friends who spend  the summer after high school graduation as poolside lifeguards. Colin Jost has written the screenplay. Lorne Michaels (30 Rock, Baby Mama, The Guilt Trip, Hot Rod) and John Goldwyn (Dexter, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I’m Not There) are producing the Paramount Pictures production. No word yet on a release date for Staten Island Summer.
