Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for William H. Macy’s indie drama Rudderless. The album features the songs from the film performed by actors Billy Crudup, Selena Gomez and the Rudderless band (consisting of Crudup, Yelchin and indie rocker Ben Kweller) and written by Simon Steadman & Charlton Pettus and Ben Limpic. Also included are three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Eef Barzelay. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 30, 2014 and physically on October 28. Macy and stars Crudup, Yelchin, Gomez, alongside Felicity Huffman and Laurence Fishburne. The movie follows a man who has his life torn apart when he loses his son. When he discovers a box of unpublished music coming from an unexpected source, he begins obsessively learning the songs, until one day he decides to play one of them at a local bar. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on October 17 by Samuel Goldwyn Films and on VOD by Paramount Home Media Distribution.
