James Lavelle has composed the music for the upcoming drama Shelter. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Paul Bettany and stars Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Mackie. The movie follows two people from very different worlds who find strength and solace in each other while being homeless on the streets of New York. Bettany has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Katie Mustard, Daniel Wagner (Reasonable Doubt) and Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Hateship Loveship). Lavelle is best known as a member and co-founder of the trip hop group UNKLE whose music has been featured in such films as The Beach, Trance, 21 and Push. The drama marks Lavelle’s first major narrative feature scoring assignment. Shelter is set to premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
