Nathan Barr revealed in a recent interview with Billboard that he will be co-scoring the upcoming thriller The Boy Next Door with Randy Edelman who was previously announced as the composer of the film. The movie is directed by Rob Cohen (xXx, The Fast and the Furious, Dragonheart, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman, Kristin Chenoweth and John Corbett. The thriller scripted by Barbara Curry follows a newly separated mother who begins an affair with a teenage neighbor who befriends her son. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Sinister) is producing the Blumhouse, Nuyorican and Smart Entertainment production with John Jacobs (Ted, Blades of Glory), Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (Maid in Manhattan, Mona Lisa Smile) and Benny Medina (The Fighting Temptations). The project will mark Barr’s first collaboration with Edelman who has previously scored numerous films directed by Cohen. The Boy Next Door is set to premiere on January 23, 2015 by Universal Pictures.
Barr is also scoring the second seasons of the critically acclaimed FX drama The Americans and the Netflix original series Hemlock Grove. He will also be composing the music for the seventh and final season of HBO’s True Blood, which is set to premiere this summer.
