Randy Edelman has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Boy Next Door. The film is directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman, Kristin Chenoweth and John Corbett. The movie follows a newly separated mother who begins an affair with a new teenage neighbor who befriends her son. Barbara Curry has written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company alongside John Jacobs (Ted, Blades of Glory) for Smart Entertainment, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (Mona Lisa Smile, Maid in Manhattan) for Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Benny Medina (The Fosters, The Fighting Temptations). Edelman has previously scored most of Cohen’s features including Dragonheart, xXx, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Daylight, The Skulls and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The Boy Next Door is set to be released on January 23, 2015 by Universal Pictures.
