The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On July 18/19, Jack Black will be hosting DreamWorks Animation in Concert – Celebrating 20 Years, which will feature film clips from such films as How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar and more with their scores by composers including John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer performed live to picture. On August 28/29, John Williams returns to the stage for two concerts featuring performances of scores such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park and a tribute to some of the classic stars from Warner Bros. On August 30, David Newman will be conducting The Big Picture: Hitchcock!, which will feature performances of the scores of Bernard Herrmann (Vertigo, North by Northwest) and Dimitri Tiomkin (Strangers on a Train, Dial M for Murder) from Alfred Hitchcock’s films performed to screen.
