Deborah Lurie has recently recorded her score for the upcoming comedic thriller Murder of a Cat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Gillian Greene and stars Fran Kranz, Nikki Reed, J.K. Simmons and Greg Kinnear. The movie follows a young man who discovers his dead cat was leading a double life with another owner. Christian Magalhaes & Robert Snow (New Girl) have written the Black List-honored screenplay. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz the Great and Powerful) is producing the project. Lurie’s previous film scoring credits include such titles as Dear John, An Unfinished Life, Footloose and Safe Haven. She has also collaborated with regular Raimi collaborator Danny Elfman on numerous projects, including 9 and composed additional music for Raimi’s second and third Spider-Man movies. Murder of a Cat is expected to premiere later this year.
