Pierre Adenot is composing the score for Christophe Gans’ upcoming film adaptation of Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bete). The French language film stars Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux. Gans has also written the screenplay based on one of the earliest published variants of the classic fairy tale, included in Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve’s 1740′s collection Jeune Ameriquaine et les Contes Marins. André Dussollier is co-starring. Richard Grandpierre (Brotherhood of the Wolf, Zulu) is producing the project for Eskwad, along Pathe Production. Gans’ previous films featured music by Jeff Danna & Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Joseph LoDuca (Brotherhood of the Wolf) and Patrick O’Hearn (Crying Freeman). Adenot’s previous film scoring credits include Romantics Anonymous and segments of the anthology film Paris, je t’aime. Beauty and the Beast is set to be released in France on February 12, 2014. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
