Robin Guthrie is currently scoring the upcoming indie drama White Bird in a Blizzard. The film is written and directed by Gregg Araki (The Doom Generation, Smiley Face) and stars Shailene Woodley, Gabourey Sidibe, Eva Green, Angela Bassett, Christopher Meloni and Shiloh Fernandez. The movie is based on a novel by Laura Kasischke (The Life Before Her Eyes) and follows a troubles young woman whose life spins out of control when her mother mysteriously disappears. Araki is also producing the project with Pascal Caucheteux (A Prophet, Rust and Bone) and Sebastien Lemercier (The Purge, Four Lovers) of Why Not Productions. Guthrie has previously co-scored Araki’s Mysterious Skin and Kaboom. Apart from his work for film, he is best known as the co-founder of the alternative rock band Cocteau Twins. White Bird in a Blizzard is expected to premiere in 2014.

Great. I find his score to “Mysterious Skin” to be one one the most moving pieces of music ever commited to celluloid – An unforgettable piece of work. Looking forward to this.
