Carl Thiel has composed the score for the upcoming action sequel Machete Kills. The film is written and directed by Robert Rodriguez and stars Danny Trejo in the title role of ex-Federale agent Machete who is recruited by the President of the United States to take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet. Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir and Mel Gibson are co-starring in the Troublemaker Studios production. Kyle Ward has written the screenplay based on a story by Robert & Marcel Rodriguez. Thiel previously scored Rodriguez’s Shorts and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World 4D and the Planet Terror segment from Grindhouse. The composer also wrote additional music for the original Machete film and performed as a musician in the Chingon band that was credited for writing the music of the film. Thiel has also co-scored the drama When Angels Sing with Scott Warren. The film is directed by Tim McCanlies and stars Harry Connick Jr., Connie Britton, Chandler Canterbury, Fionnula Flanagan, Lyle Lovett, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Eloise DeJoria, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. The movie follows a father whose holiday spirit was crushed by an accident when he was a child. When his son faces a tragedy, a mysterious man instills in him the courage to find the joy he lost.
