Two composer panels have been announced for next week’s New York Comic Con. During the Setting the Score: Composing for Film & TV panel, science fiction, fantasy and horror composers will discuss the behind the scenes work in scoring for film and television. Panelists include Kevin Manthei (Invader Zim, Justice League: New Frontier), Dino Meneghin (MTV’s Teen Wolf), Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Fall On Your Sword (Another Earth, Nobody Walks) and Jay Vincent (Ninjago). The panel will be moderated by Matthew Patches (Editor, Hollywood.com) and will take place on Friday, October 12 at the Javits Center in Room 1A01 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Visit NY Comic Con’s official website for more details.
In addition, there will be another panel focusing on composing music for the horror and sci-fi genres and the artform of scoring video games. Participating composers include Jason Graves (Dead Space series), Kevin Riepl (Gears of War), Sam Hulick (Mass Effect trilogy), Cris Velasco (Mass Effect 3, Clive Barker’s Jericho), Sascha Dikiciyan (Mass Effect 3, TRON: Evolution), Tom Salta (HALO: Combat Evolved Anniversary) and Grammy Award-winning artist/producer Nile Rodgers, founder of the video game soundtrack label Sumthing Else Music Works. The Maestros of Horror and Sci-Fi Music panel will take place on October 12, in Room 10A1 from 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm. Click here for more information.
Somebody ask Rodgers why he doesn’t score any more. After “Coming to America” and “BEverly Hills Cop III” — I was hoping for some more.
