The Newton Brothers have been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Setup. The film marks the theatrical feature directing debut of stunt coordinator Mike Gunther and stars Bruce Willis, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Ryan Phillippe, Jenna Dewan, James Remar and Randy Couture. The movie revolves around a group of friends who are catapulted into the middle of a diamond heist turned deadly. Curtis Jackson is also producing the film. A trailer for the film surfaced online last month, but has disappeared from most websites since. A release date has yet to be announced, but the movie’s domestic distributor Lionsgate is expected to make an announcement soon.
While Setup arguably marks the highest profile project for the Newton Brothers, the composer duo of Andy Grush & Taylor Stewart have also scored a number of other interesting projects. Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival tomorrow is the drama Detachment. The film is directed by Tony Kaye (American History X) and stars Adrien Brody, Christina Hendricks, James Caan, Lucy Lio, Bryan Cranston, Blythe Danner, Marcia Gay Harden and Tim Blake Nelson. The movie depicts three weeks in the lives of high school teachers, administrators and students through the eyes of substitute teacher Henry Barthes, played by Brody. No word yet on a release date for the film.
Also coming up for the composers is the comedy drama Theo. The film is directed by Ezna Sands and stars Mira Sorvino and Dakota Johnson. To find out more about the Newton Brothers and to listen to selections from the duo’s previous work, visit their official webpage.
