Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, The Crown, Genius, Home) is set to compose the original score for the upcoming drama Military Wives. The film is directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty, Opal Dream, The Rocker) and will star Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan. The movie is inspired by a BBC factual series about a choirmaster who selects and trains amateur singers and follows a group of wives and girlfriends of soldiers serving abroad who form a choir on a military base. Rosanne Flynn & Rachel Tunnard (Adult Life Skills) wrote the screenplay. Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken (Welcome to the Punch, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) are producing the project with Piers Tempest (The Wife). Balfe has previously scored the Tempest-produced biographical drama Churchill. Military Wives is set to start shooting next month in the UK. A release in 2019 is expected.
