Patrick Warren is composing the original score for the new Showtime original series The Chi. The show is created by Lena Waithe (Dear White People) and stars Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Tiffany Boone and Armando Riesco. The coming-of-age drama is set on the South Side of Chicago and follows a group of residents who become linked by coincidence. Waithe is also executive producing the project with Common, Aaron Kaplan (Life in Pieces, Divorce), Elwood Reid (The Bridge) and Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Wood) who also directed the pilot episode. Warren’s previous scoring credits include the features Bloodworth and According to Spencer. He also provided additional music for HBO’s True Detective. The Chi will premiere on January 7, 2018 and air every Sunday night on Showtime. Visit the official show website for updates.
