Cowboy Junkies member Michael Timmins is composing the original score for the upcoming biographical drama Maudie. The film is directed by Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy, Fingersmith) and stars Sally Hawkins, Ethan Hawke, Kate Ross, Zachary Bennett, Gabrielle Rose and Keri Matchett. The movie tells the true story of Maud Lewis, who overcame the physical challenge of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to become one of Canada’s premier folk artists. Sherry White has written the screenplay. Bob Cooper (John Tucker Must Die, Mr. Woodcock) is producing the project with Mary Young Leckie, Mary Sexton and Susan Mullen. Timmins has previously composed the music for several movies, including Wilby Wonderful and Niagara, Niagara. Maudie will premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival.
