Danny Elfman recently confirmed his involvement in three upcoming movies in a recent interview with Big Issue. The composer has recently finished his score for David O. Russell’s crime drama American Hustle. The film stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence. The movie tells the the story of a brilliant con man who, along with his seductive British partner is forced to work for a wild FBI agent who pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers. Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings) has co-written the screenplay with Eric Warren Singer (The International). Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, The Master), Charles Roven (The Dark Knight trilogy, Twelve Monkeys) and Richard Suckle (The International) are producing the project. Elfman has previously collaborated with the director on last year’s Silver Linings Playbook. American Hustle is set to be released on December 13, 2013 by Sony Pictures. Elfman is also scoring DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The film is directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little) and features the voice talent of Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Ariel Winter, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Patrick Warburton, Stanley Tucci, Allison Janney, Mel Brooks, Lake Bell, Zach Callison and Dennis Haysbert. The movie is based on Jay Ward’s cartoon, which centers on Mr. Peabody, the world’s smartest person who happens to be a dog. Alex Schwartz and Denise Nolan Cascino (Megamind) are producing the film. The project marks Elfman’s first time working with DreamWorks Animation. The composer’s previous animated feature credits include Epic, Meet the Robinsons, A Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie and this year’s Epic. Finally, the composer will also be reuniting with Tim Burton on the comedic drama Big Eyes. The film’s cast includes Christoph Waltz, Amy Adams, Danny Huston, Krysten Ritter, Terence Stamp and Jason Schwartzman. The movie is based on the true story of painter Margaret Keane and her husband Walter, who took credit for his wife’s work. Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, Man on the Moon, 1408) have written the screenplay and are also producing the project with Burton and Lynette Howell (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine) for Electric City Entertainment. Big Eyes is currently in post-production and is expected to be release in 2014 by the Weinstein Company.
