The first trailer of the upcoming action thriller Colombiana premiered today and confirms the involvement of composer Nathaniel Mechaly. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) and co-written by Robert Mark Kamen (The Fifth Element, Taken, The Karate Kid) and Luc Besson, who also serves as one of the project’s producers. The movie’s cast is toplined by Zoe Saldana and Jordi Molla, Lennie James, Michael Vartan and Cliff Curtis are co-starring. Colombiana centers on a young woman who grows up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child in Bogota. By day, she works for her uncle as a hit man and by night she’s a vigilante after the mobster responsible for her parents’ deaths.  The project will be Mechaly’s second major domestic wide release after the action thriller hit Taken starring Liam Neeson, which opened in early 2009. The film is produced by Besson’s EuroCorp and will be released in the US on September 2,  2011 by Sony Pictures. Watch the full trailer below and visit the official movie webapge for updates.
