Theodore Shapiro has been hired to score the upcoming comedy The Change-Up. The film tells the story of a married guy who accidentally changes bodies with his single best friend and ends up pursuing a female coworker. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Alan Arkin and Olivia Wilde. The film is written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover) and directed by David Dobkin. Dobkin previously worked together with composers Randy Edelman (Shanghai Knights), Rolfe Kent (The Wedding Crashers) and Christophe Beck (Fred Claus) on his previous movies. Universal Pictures will release The Change-Up on August 5, 2011.

As previously reported, Shapiro also has the comedy Arthur starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Greta Gerwig and Jennifer Garner coming out this April. The composer’s other upcoming project The Big Year directed by David Frankel and starring Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin has recently been scheduled for an October 14, 2011 release date.
