Rob Simonsen has been hired to score the upcoming comedy LOL. The film is written and directed by Lisa Azuelos and is a remake of her French 2008 film LOL (Laughing Out Loud) ® starring Sophie Marceau. The comedy stars Miley Cyrus, Ashley Greene, Thomas Jane and Demi Moore. The movie takes place in a world dominated by social media and centers on a teenage girl who is dumped by her older boyfriend while her divorced mother struggles to move on with her life. No release date has been set, but it is expected to be released later this year by Lionsgate.

Simonsen is best known for his collaborations with composer Mychael Danna on such projects as the indie hit (500) Days of Summer and Joss Whedon’s TV show Dollhouse. He most recently scored Andrew Jarecki’s All Good Things starring Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling, as well as the main theme and the first couple of episodes of the CBS cop show Blue Bloods starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg. Watch the show’s main title sequence below and check out Simonsen’s official webpage for more information on his work.

  1. Geri says:

The original soundtrack Rob made for All Good Things is truly haunting and cliffhanging..just wonder if it has it been officially released.

  2. filmmusicreporter says:

I completely agree. Unfortunately, no official soundtrack release, but a couple of cues can be found on Rob’s website: http://www.robsimonsen.com/films/all-good-things/

  3. Have you heard if a soundtrack will be released for the 2012 LOL U.S. version of the movie?
